Well, heya there, my dears.
What you should know is that people here are less friendly than in Paris. Despite the fact that Paris is considered to be the capital of arrogance, it is not true. Hello! When entering a bus in Paris, you need to say hello to the driver, simply because it's good manners. Here, when I've tried to continue behaving like I was well brought up, the bus drivers, they looked at me as if I was loco.
Another thing. In the metro (btw, they call it TUBE here..), on my first week here, while heading to Brixton to meet up with Tom and his GF, our colleagues from Paris. I saw a rather violent argument in between a middle aged lady and a random fat dude that ended with him hitting the lady in her face and her crying. (!!!) Never seen anything like that during my (almost) a year in Paris. The most outrageous thing I saw there was probably a hippy Rollerblades wearing dude smoking weed. And, um, didn't see it myself, but a friend of mine there got hit in the face with her bag and her iPhone stolen. But in that case, the bad guy was not a random passenger but he had bad intentions to start out with.
Aaaaand! There was a lady, that just took all the words out of my mouth and left me standing on a street totally speechless. What happened was this. Me walking on a street, carrying my huge purse (because I simply don't do small) and suddenly, I felt my phone and while reaching for it, I slowed down and suddenly there was someone bumping into my bag. As soon as I noticed, I said "Pardon!" (habit, that's what you say in Paris even when it is not your fault, when you maybe haven't even touched the person or ...you just say it...because It's Good Manners) and she gave me a whatever-look, kept walking and added "F*** oFF!". Is there anything to say in this case?
But, all is not bad here.
One of those holiday Friday nights, we decided to go out for a walk (because only pussies stay in on a Friday night). And....we took a nice long walk ..London Bridge, Waterloo, London Eye.. And took pictures, enjoyed Christmasy meal at a Christmas market and a mulled wine. Then, there was some culture centre and there was an exhibition of reward winning world press photos of 2011 and 2012. Went in to check that out.
Obviously it was amazing.
And since this was also the week of London Jazz Festival, then we stayed for a concert. I absolutely loved it. It was a jazzy brazilian music. Great! Made me miss my sister, but I was happy to miss her. :)
That's it for now! :) I'll keep experiencing my new location. Buuuuut, I think I need a new pepper spray. I don't know where I could get one though. If you feel like getting me one and sending it to me then ask for my new address.
I do need to be safe, right! :)
Bye. See you soon. Love!
Luv u!
